Hello my most favorite people,
Hows it??
You have my travel plans??!! Oh wow this is so weird.
THIS WEEK WAS CRAZY!!!
I was in Grenada from Wednesday until Friday night REAL late. Grenada was wonderful. I learned a lot while I was there and met so many great people! I also got to be with my old comp. Sister S. 🙂 We talked about the good old days! While I was there we taught so many great people there. Grenadians are so very kind and open and awesome.
The Sisters are doing very well. Such hard workers! While I was there it was late at night and we were walking down a really steep hill and it had rained early in the day… I slipped and almost wiped out down the hill… Hahah in the process somehow I lost my name tag. (which was later found from a search crew consisting of members 😉
While I was at the airport I met a lot of really great people and contacted a lot. It is great to share the gospel wherever we are. Everyone needs this message. 🙂
I was supposed to be home Friday morning at 9:30 but the Caribbean airline service (Liat) is not very reliable and so I ended up spending many hours at the airports and having delays and flying from island to island before I finally made it home at 11 p.m. on Friday.
Needless to say I was very tired and I learned a lot of patience that day. Everyone was throwing beefy fits and yelling at the airport people and I just said to myself why worry and dwell on things you can’t change!?
My time here this week was nice. I love my companions. We are all like BFF’s. We had some of our progressing investigators come to General Conference. It  was so good. I loved it. I wrote down questions before hand and every single one of q’s was answered 🙂
I love the gospel. I learned more about how to recognize answers to prayers. I learned about how to be confident in the Lord and how we can stay strong in this wild world.
We had a lesson with one of our LA’s (the one that used to always come out with us and she was so solid) (she has been falling away:() last night and the spirit was so strong. She asked us to sing some hymns and then give her talks on each topic she picked. She picked love, sacrifice and prayer. It was awesome. I feel all the time that as we teach people about different things I truly am the one that is growing from it.
Anyway that is most of my week. I am a bit sleep deprived but the Lord gives me the strength! On Wednesday morning I will be flying to Trinidad and then flying from Trinidad to Suriname and getting there at one in the morning on Thursday…. And I will be with those Sisters until next week! This is my last travel of this transfer! So that will be awesome. I cannot wait! Tomorrow President M. is coming in for interviews and me and the ZL’s will be teaching the whole Zone with Pres M. there… No pressure right?? Haha no I am kidding, it’ll be fine.
So this week will be indeed crazy! Next week I will probs be emailing on Tuesday since I am flying home on Monday.
Thanks for making sure I have money on my card! Anything specific you would like from the carib??
Thanks for everything! I love you all so very much and life is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love, Sister Emily 🙂

“Those who have been careful to keep oil in their lamps, now have the needed light to guide them; and those who have been living in borrowed light, or in that furnished by others, may find themselves in perplexity and uncertain as to the path to pursue. For all these circumstances the Saints should be prepared. They have been faithfully taught and warned to not depend upon man or upon his strength to enable them to stand the trying day.

“They have been told, [1 John 2:15.] They have been told that no man can serve two masters; that we cannot serve God and mammon [see Luke 16:13]. Those who have observed these teachings, and have diligently kept the other commandments of the Lord, will find themselves in the possession of the needed strength and faith to enable them to bear every trial”-John Taylor

A Wonderful Temple Trip!

We had a wonderful day today! We returned home from a trip to St. George, and on the way stopped to attend the Manti Temple. It was a great experience!

photo 1 (10)Check out this goofy picture of me trying to take a selfie of us.

This beautiful lady that went with us is my niece, Amanda. I love her!

photo 4 (5)

This is the Manti, Utah Temple!! It is one of the only temples that doesn’t have the Angel Moroni on it, but look at the beautiful architecture. I reminds me of a castle.

Each year there is a pageant on the lawn below the temple. It’s free and open to the public. You can check out the website here.

photo 4 (6)It is beautiful and the furnishings in it are very lovely. They are all from the period which the temple was build. It was announced by President Brigham Young in 1875, and dedicated in 1888. It was a big sacrifice to for the people who built it. You can read about the work that went into building it here.

Here is another great place to hear about the Manti Temple!

I feel so blessed to be able to attend the temple and feel the spirit there.

It was a beautiful day!!!

HOLA MI FAMILIA!

Well. Sounds like all is well at home with you! I am so glad. Sad to hear about my favorite old lady but I love her so much and know she is happy. I will miss her for true.
I am glad to hear that all is well.
Sorry I will have to be a little short this week since I sent pictures…. (i hope you liked them)
This week I was gone the majority of the week in Barbados!! It was way fun and also I learned a lot from those sisters. Heavenly Father knows I am a dingus and need to learn a lot so that’s why I have the calling I do. I am sure of it.
All of the sisters that I was with are training and very young sisters!!! It was so fun to share ideas with them and help them in their service for the Lord.
When I got back home, I was real real tired!!!! But I am doing well. I have just been on a spiritual high. Sometimes I find myself just dropping to the floor and praying all the time.
Something happened last night that was very sad to me. A. (the one I always talk about) was at one of the members houses and he has been preparing for baptism.. But he was so drunk and he just kept apologizing. He tries so hard to be good but he literally has no one on his side except us… The only good thing that happened was because he was wasted he told us what was really in his heart and we found out more concerns. When we left the house I cried the whole way home and some more when we got home. I just prayed and cried. The saddest part is that he wants to be good. And we see his potential and so it broke my heart. He deserves better than that and he is better than that.
Honestly I have lost myself in the work. I no longer cry for myself or feel bad for me. When I have emotions they are directly related with the people here. And I just want to help them to feel the love of the gospel that I have. I wish I could let people borrow my testimony!!
Anyway all is well. we will keep helping him and never give up. We are so blessed here and I have the best comps ever. There are many blessings.
This week I am going to Grenada. And then I will also be Skyping the St. Lucia sisters! Wahoo. It is the best ever.
Anyway thank you all for your love and support and thanks for the emails!
How is the Book of Mormon challenge?? Are you doing it? I am finding it to help me so much. I am so excited for studies and I gain so much from it.
Welp you all keep up the good work and keep being amazing.
I love you so very much. This is the church that has all the truths. I know it. I live it. I LOVE IT.
Love, Sister Emily

Sunday Best!

“The Lord is hastening His work. In our day this can be done only when every member of the Church reaches out with love to share the truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to work together in partnership with our 80,000 missionaries now serving.”-M Russell Ballard

Hello good day my family chaps! How are you??

First things first: I found out that I am coming home December, 2015….. Haha just kidding 2014. But I may or may not have asked President M. if I could extend my mission longer… Before you freak out, he will probably say no. I can’t believe it is almost that time though. It makes me sad. I find myself sleeping with my name tag on and tearing up about everything…. Wah. Anyway all is well.
Second thing second: I got the camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been taking tons of pictures again.
Third thing third: just kidding I will stop now. Ok so the things that stand out from this week.
We are having so much goodness happen in our trio. It is wonderful. Often times I have to take phone calls from the sisters during studies and so they can continue doing what they need to. This week I am going to my first area again… Actually today!!!!!!! I am so dang excited. I get to see most of my old branch tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be there until Friday. Sister W. always feels really sad when I leave so I have been counseling her. She will do great. It’ll be a good opportunity for her to learn.
We are having such success with a few people and working very closely with them. Esp. A.! He is our memb. ref. He was at church and he is getting baptized on Oct. 11!
On Friday my hand was so stiff and in so much pain that I couldn’t move it… I am still having joint pains from the illness I had… It’s a nice trial. It is better now… for now. It comes and goes.
Seriously everything is just dandy here in! We have been visiting the members and helping them with their teaching skills and ting. And have seen many miracles from that!
Thought of the week: We were watching a video conference for training with Elder Holland and cool people and he talked so humbley about how he is the person he is now because of teachers. Because of his parents and leaders and how he is still taught every day. I thought about that. That is how I feel. I am always being taught. I am always learning from people and experiences around me.
Have you all been doing the BOM challenge I left with you?
How is your missionary work going?
Wish me luck on my travels! I can’t wait to learn from those sisters in my first area and be blessed by their sweet spirits!
Anyway I sure stinkin’ love your guts mama! I hope you have a great week and don’t stress so much about things you have no control over. Keep being your awesome self. You are amazing and you are like a pro on the phone that’s why you get to do it so much! Anyway I don’t know of any senior couples coming in. But the Gublers go home in a few weeks!! I love them too. They are the best. Anyway I love you tons. Have a great week.
Have a great week! I love you all very much!
Love, Sister Emily 🙂

“Problems abound in this world because it is populated by imperfect people. Their objectives and desires are heavily influenced by their faith or lack of it. Many put other priorities ahead of God. Some challenge the relevance of religion in modern life. As in every age, so today there are those who mock or decry the free exercise of religion. Some even blame religion for any number of the world’s ills. Admittedly, there have been times when atrocities have been committed in the name of religion. But living the Lord’s pure religion, which means striving to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ, is a way of life and a daily commitment that will provide divine guidance. As you practice your religion, you are exercising your faith. You are letting your faith show.”-Russell M Nelson

Family History Friday: The Leading S!

leadingS

Source

If you are searching for your ancestors in the 1800’s you may have seen the “leading S” or the “double S.”

It is very common in documents like a census record or other older documents.

It looks like a cursive “F” that is backwards.

I like to keep samples of the way it looks in my research helps.

You can see what it looks like, and some great information about it, here!

It is always good to have helps when you do research!

Happy Family History Friday! Love, Joy
