Hello my amazing family!!!!

It sounds like each and every one of you is just doing so good! It sounds like you had a very fun week. I did too!!!
To answer your questions:
Priesthood holders: We have quite a few. There are some young and some old but none even close to being Branch President . They are all pretty young still in their conversion process.
The Members here are AWESOME! Some of them are strong and have been but the branch kind of goes through a cycle of people. There are only first generation older members.. There are some second generation members but they are still very young.
We got our transfer calls on Saturday and I am really and truly training another temporary missionary!!!
This one hasn’t even received her call yet! Her name is Sister S. Sister K. knows her and told me some things about her. It’ll be a fun transfer! Oh also I was called to be the Sister Training Leader for two of the islands!!! Wow!! YEAH YEAH STL!!!!!! I am way super excited for the opportunity to serve. President M. has been in touch with me and I have been telling him all the things on my mind and everything.
So this week was really really crazy! We are working really closely with these 2 adorable families!!! They are progressing nicely! Also L. one of our investigators came to the Branch Party on Saturday and also has been at church for 2 weeks in a row now!!! YES!!! We are beginning to see great success and peoples hearts being opened!
Anyway I cannot believe it’s already been a transfer! I am going to miss Sister K. bad bad bad. We have become so close.
Just so you know everything is going well! Tings are turning around and I am excited for all that lies ahead!
Scripture of the week: D&C 78: 17-19
I am so grateful for the things that we learn from the scriptures and for the strength that we can find through them. And boy what blessings we receive from living the gospel!!!
Ummm… That is pretty much all of the big news for this week. Tomorrow we are going up to north on the island for the meeting and then I will be spending lots of time with the G.’s (senior couple) until this Friday when my new companion comes in!
Ok so one last item of business: My bag is pretty busted. So I need to get a new one so I will be talking some money out today I don’t know how cheap I can get one for but I will do my best in finding a good deal.
Anyway I love you mama so very much and thanks for all that you do!! Next week I will tell you some funny stories and whats not! I LOVE YOU!!!!!
Daddy: HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 I just wanted to thank you for your sweet spirit and for your humble loving self. I sure do love and appreciate all of the hard work you do and for being the best dad ever. The food sounded awesome! You should send me some 😉 Have a great week.
Anyway!!!!! Loves and hugs to and to all and good day! Have the best week and I will tell you what happens next week! I will be emailing you where Zone Conference will be held! I will be having training sessions for becoming an STL. FUN FUN!!!! Alright Peace out!
Love, Sister Emily

Family History Friday: Family Love!

I found a great story on YouTube about Stephen Colbert’s Uncle Eddy. Listen to it!

Do you know why Stephen has such a great love and respect for his uncle? It’s because his mom shared with him stories and letters and history about his uncle, and what was going on in his uncle’s life, and the world at the time he was alive.

That is why I love Family History. Because once I take the time to get to know my ancestors, I realize they’re not much different than me. They had hopes and dreams. They had challenges and sadness. They worked hard and sacrificed. They loved and shared their life with people they loved. They made life better for me. Knowing the things they went through, helps me know that I can go through hard things too. I feel like they are close and helping me. Rooting for me as I go through life. I will love them and remember them.

Happy Family History Friday! Love, Joy

Tuesday Adventure!

We had so much fun going to Promontory Summit!!! In case you didn’t know, it’s where the two trains met up back on May 10, 1869! It marked the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, connecting the Central and Union Pacific Railroads. After that people could travel across the country by rail. We found out while we were there, that at the moment the last spike was driven into the tie a telegraph was sent, “D-O-N-E.” It was like the first reality show! The whole country knew at one time!!!

photo 2

Having the rails connected shorten the time to get things from coast to coast, including people! The locomotives are very ornate and a sight to behold!

photo 4

The park ranger said, “They’re not trains unless cars are attached to them, they’re locomotives.” Got it! She told us that they are so beautiful because they were like the billboard for the company that owned them. Later in history locomotives were painted one color and not so beautiful. Boring! Another thing, they got their power from steam. The 119 locomotive on the right is a coal burner. The Jupiter is a wood burner. It was fun because the wood and coal smell was in the air. I found myself wanting to go for a long train ride.

photo 5 There is a little demonstration where the locomotives moved on the rails, blew their horns, and went backwards and forwards. That was really run!!! One thing I never knew, was something the park ranger pointed out, when the locomotive gets close you can hear the rails “sing”. It’s a clangy, clapping type of sound with a little hum. It was awesome!

Now you know. Promontory Summit is in north western Utah. You should visit if you can. I loved it!

After, we went to the Logan Temple. It has become one of our favorite places for two reasons. One, it is a Holy and Sacred place where we can feel close to our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Two, it is a beautiful temple, and Logan is a charming little town.

DSC04390I hope you had a wonderful Tuesday!

Hello to my most wonderful family!

How are you all???
I am doing so good!
This week was very challenging and such a good faith building experience for me. I am so grateful to be serving here in this area. I am learning things that I will take with me for the rest of my life.
Hey Mama thanks for that pep talk! I really appreciate it!
Sounds like all is well in the big PV!!! I am so joyously grateful that Janny and Ri have been at church. Best thing ever.
Ok so my brain is all over the place today! I have to hurry because they email shop is closing soon and yesterday was a holiday. I know the Gublers talked to you. They showed me the email you sent as well as the picture they sent to you…. Hahaha I just laughed. You are so sweet. Thanks for your concern.
So I just found out through a random source that I might be training YET AGAIN next transfer… Another temp missionary. WOW!!!!!!!!! Heavenly Father must have trust in me because he keeps sending me his precious daughters! Anyway I know he will provide the strength necessary. I actually am not sure on that but we will see what happens.
So thanks for the update. 🙂
Alright well! This week was awesome. Much learning and growing. Sister K. has helped me so much and is an eternal friend. I feel as though she is my sister and I am sad she is leaving this following week.
Ummm cool things that happened this week are: L. one of our investigators who used to ask so many questions and just would kind of fight against what we said is opening up immensely! She came to church and is doing so great!!
This week we met really cool people but a lot of things have been falling through. I have been doing my absolute best to help Sister K. get excited for her mission. She will do amazing there and after serving here she is ready for anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This week one of the Elders fell off of our porch and had a concussion…. The Elders were all like “You are in nursing! What should we do???” All I could say was that I had no idea but all I know now is the gospel and so I said give him a blessing right now!!!!!! They gave him a blessing and everything worked out ok. It has been amazing to see the Lords hand in my life. I feel as though right now he is carrying me.
Just so you know I am actually doing great. I feel happy and excited for the future. Many things are ahead that I know will continue to be awesome 🙂
Thanks for being the best!!! I love you all so very very much and am grateful for each of you. Please keep praying for me and for the Branch here. Things are getting better slowly and surely.
Everyone have a great week! Remember to rely on the Lord in all things, he is there, always.
Love always, Sister Emily

Sunday Best!

“And so I come to you today, with no shadow of doubting in my mind that I know the reality of the person who is presiding over this church, our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. I know that he is. I know that he is closer to us than many times we have any idea. They are not an absentee Father and Lord. They are concerned about us, helping to prepare us for the advent of the Savior, whose coming certainly isn’t too far away because of the signs that are becoming apparent” -Harold B. Lee

Hope your Sunday is the Best! Love, Joy

Tuesday Adventure!

We had a fun adventure finding

Dingle, Idaho.

It is very close to Bear Lake, on the north east side of the lake.

IMG_1427I have a friend who was born in Dingle, so I wanted to know where it is!!!

It is a great little tiny town. They have their own Fire Station.

We saw snakes on the road! Here is one of them. That’s something I don’t see everyday.

HI! Oh hola mi familia.

Yes I got my package! Did you get all of the pictures I sent??
Thanks for all the stories from the daycare kids I was laughing so hard. About Linny bug and Phillip! Hahaha
Ok so I am so glad to hear that everyone had a great week.
My week was really good! Also one of the most challenging. I realized this week a lot of things. Sometimes I think I am stronger than I am. I have always been that way where I think I can carry the world on my shoulders but I stumble. This week I tried to do everything and I had a little bit of a bawl sesh….. Hahah no worries mom I am fine.
Sister K. and I sat down and talked and I realized the real weight I had on my shoulders. She is here preparing for her real mission and I found out that because of the hardness of this area she is questioning whether she really wants to be a missionary, and if she can handle it. Then I realized not only do I need to help her here, but I also think of the people and lives she may potentially touch in Florida. AH!!!!!! I am learning a lot. I know that I can help her but only with the Lords help. These past few weeks have been hard because I have had to carry my area by myself mostly. Sister K. is wonderful and she is not the problem there is just so much going on.
Anyway all is well. I am feeling better!!!!
I am in good hands. The Lords hands.
I am sad to hear about the death of the cute dogs!
Alright I wish I had time to write to each individual but I am short on time from sending pictures. I love you all and thanks for the package and your love.
Have a great week. I know I will!
Love always, Sister Emily 🙂

I’m Trying to be Awesome!

photo (14)

Don’t you just love some of the ecards out there?

I saw one on Facebook the other day that sounds like me:

I’m trying to be awesome today

but I’m exhausted from being so freakin’

awesome yesterday!

Sometimes I “go like a house afire” as my mom would say, getting the house cleaned up and ready for a get together.

We had a Memorial Day barbecue on Monday.

We had friends and family come. I cleaned and put the house together (of course the family helped). We got the patio all ready and my darlin cooked the hamburgers and hotdogs. I cooked, sliced, and put together some salads. I felt like everything went well. It was a nice party.

I had a fun time! I think we all had a fun time!

After the party, I relaxed. I may have relaxed for a couple of days after. :]

I really am trying to be awesome!

Glorious Family, Greetings!

How are my favorite people?? It sounds like you are all doing splendid!
Thanks for sending my package. Awww baby Julian is so cute!!!!!! Thank you for the pictures. Ah all my cute girls are just growing up so fast. If you talk to them, tell them that I said congrats and that I love them ever so much 🙂
Ok so pretty much this week flew by!
Things that happened this week:
Sister T. came from St. Vincent to do tradeoffs. It was a lot of fun to have her here. I learned much.
She told me that I was the most positive person in the entire world but she was like “listen you have to tell me how you are really feeling”. Hahah ah man. I am starting to realize that I am being too positive in the fact that even when I right in my journal I hardly say what I really feel because I am trying to be happy even for myself. It’s ridiculous!! So I am starting this journal thing where I right down everything I feel. My real feelings not ones trying to talk me out of the ones that I am having. I guess times have just been hard so I have been trying to keep a float but maybe it’s a bit much.
So this Sat. we had a baptism and it was AWESOME!!!!!!! T. is such a special spirit. We were at his house for his interview and his mom told about how T. never wanted anything to do with religion or church. And even books or anything!! But said he has changed since we started meeting with him. He loves the Book of Mormon and he will come to church two hours early. She was so surprised at the way he is now 🙂 And they came to the baptism. T. was doing missionary work!! AHHHH….
I got a letter from Brother K. this week. It was amazing. He is still going strong and everything. He made me cry! It was so touching 🙂
On May 22nd I burned a pair of socks!!!! All the Elders burn a tie at their one year mark but I didn’t want to burn a skirt so I burned some holey socks!! It was awesome. I was thinking about how May 22, 2012 I graduated. May 22, 2013 I entered the MTC and now here I am hitting my year mark! WOW!!!
I am learning so very much continually everyday. Sometimes I feel a little bit weighed down. I have a lot on my plate (no pun intended) (I know I am chunkin up). But in the epic words of Bob Marley “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright” Seriously. I testify to that. My brain has been a little scattered (Kinda like it used to be at home;) But I just need to take it slow by slow. The Lord works line upon line.
Anyway thank you everyone for the support and love that you give me. I love you all so very much 🙂
Have the best week ever!!!
Love Always, Sister Emily
