Mans best friends!

This is my big brother Brad. These are his dogs, Grizz, Chloe, Paris, and Nicole.Grizz is the one licking Brad. They are all so cute. When we get together at Brad & Cindy’s house, everyone wants to hold them, and love them. They seem to put up with us quite well. Brad had a birthday yesterday. I am so glad he’s my big brother. He is a hard worker. He is someone you can count on. He doesn’t really like it when others try to do things for him, but we still try. We like to say that he is crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. He is such a good guy! Happy Birthday Bradley James! I love you!

Everything for a Penny!

One of my favorite traditions at Christmas time is,

taking all the kids for Family Night, to All A Dollar to by Christmas gifts.

When the kids were little and didn’t have money,

we would give them each $5 to by some gifts with.

The rules were this: what you bought for others had to be useful or super funny.

The fun part was to find something useful or funny for each person in the family and keep it a secret until Christmas morning.

As we would go through the store the boys would go with dad,

and the girls would go with mom.

After checkout we would go home and the kids would wrap the gifts that they bought.

One year on the way to All A Dollar, Alex said,

“When I grow up I’m going to open up a store called, ‘Everything for a Penny’.

I smiled and said, “How are you going to make money?”

He said, “I will just buy everything and sell it for a penny.”

I have so many fun memories of going to All A Dollar at Christmas time.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving table ready to go! So excited for everyone to arrive.
My darling shelf! One of my favorite things.I love decorating! We didn’t have room for a “Gratitude Tree” so we just had a Gratitude branch. We wrote on each leaf something we are thankful for and hung it on the branch. It has been a wonderful reminder of all the things we are thankful for.

I am so thankful for Thanksgiving! I am grateful for so much. Heavenly Father, Jesus, family, gospel, friends, home, food, clothes, cars, indoor plumbing, cell phones, email, mail, my sweetheart, grandbaby, time to relax, all of you, etc.

Thank you Father for all blessings given.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! Love, Joy

Charlotte’s Web?

This amazing spider built this beautiful web in our yard, and when my darlin turned on the sprinkler, to water the lawn, it stopped the sprinkler from turning.

Now that’s a web.

I’ve always loved the show Charlotte’s Web. Charlotte saves the day, and the pig. In the movie everyone makes a big deal about the pig, when Charlotte is the one that is amazing. I love seeing a spider web…outside. If it is inside, not so much. They are builders and artists.

We have had two pet Black Widows at our home, at two different times. When all of our children were quite young, we found a Black Widow in the back yard and decided to observe her for a while. She lived at our home for long enough for us to see her attack and wrap up all kinds of insects. One time my darlin got the idea to put a wasp in the container that “Charlotte” (yes, her name was Charlotte) was kept in. It was quite a sight to see her crawl over fast and bite, or string, or whatever they do, to the wasp, then crawl back. She did this several times until the wasp was sedated, then she went over to it and wrapped it up. We all just looked at each other and said, “WOW!” After we had her for as long as we wanted to, we called the local nature center and asked them if they wanted her.

We were happy to find out that they did.

So we took Charlotte to her new home, feeling glad to have had the experience and happy others could enjoy her too.

A Fun Day!!!

We had such a fun day!
This was the day
before Riley left
for basic training.
We picked up Natasha and
went to see the farm animals.

I could tell Riley was feeling sad
that he wouldn’t see Natasha
for a while.

It was so fun to see the animals,
but there was a pretty strong smell
depending on which direction
the wind was blowing.
Aunties!
Going for a ride on the pony!!
“I love my Daddy!”
It was such a beautiful day! I love it when the whole family is together.

This seat is saved!!

So darling!!!!!
I had to take this picture!
My kids have sat in the same spot in our BMW (basic mormon wagon) for as long as I can remember. We’re not all in the car always at the same time, but when we are this is where my children sit. In these exact spots. I didn’t assign them places, they decided where they wanted to sit and it’s been that way ever since. I mean we’re talking years and years!
This was our last family day, before Riley left, I had to snap a pic.
I love my children. I’m so proud of the people they have become and are becoming.
