Mama,

Ya we have our first baptism date!! Her name is M____ and she came to church and she loved it so much. Her husband L____ would already be baptised but he works all day on sunday so he has only been to church one time. 🙁 anyway but once we figure that out he will be baptised. yes i received your letters and i’m sending one today. sorry i would write more often but we work all day and go to bed so its hard to find time to write. oh ya the memory card is in the letter so you will have it soon. Ya i got a letter from Riley and he sounds like he is ready to come home. But he will be fine i’m not worried. So the area we work in is very hard to navigate through it has street names not numbers so its really hard to find places. anyway we have a zone activity today so time is short. Love you mom see you in a minute.

Baba!!

So yesterday we got yelled at by a racist guy and he called security on us it was so funny. Cause the securtiy guy didn’t do anything about us cause he knew we were good. so we are teaching like crazy. On Saturday we had a blitz for an area in our zone and all the missionaries just contacted for like an hour it was super fun. I love street contacting and i’m getting pretty skilled at it to! My best so far is contacting three people at the same time! its great anyway good to hear things are going good at home. I love you.

Mama

things are going fantastic!!! we have found thirty two new investigators since i got here we are on fire we are teaching like crazy. but now its getting out of hand because we have a hard time seeing everyone we need to. but the work is going awesome and the time is flying by. it turns out when you work your butt off every day the days go by fast. yep we have had some awesome experiances when we have visited one of the members. And he is a spiritual giant so we go visit him and we feel the spirit so strong. He is a return missionary and he was honorably sent home after eighteen months because he burnt out but he did more work in that eighteen months than most two missionaries do in there entire missions. I have been writing in my journal almost every day. Our teaching and finding we are doing both very well. and tell you the truth me and Elder martin are probably the most obediant missionaries in the mission. So God has blessed us for it things have just been working out its so nice. My favorite part of SA is the fact the people actually walk places so street finding is amazing here. you could stand at one corner all day and contact over a hundred people. CRAZY HUH!!!! anyway just know i’m working my can off and i will till the end of my mission. Love you Mama

Baba,

Thats awesome that Brother _____ is getting involved. So i met this Elder in my zone his name is Elder A__ and his family came to visit us and we met his dad. And he reminds me of me and you.:) Him and his dad are so, so, so similar kinda like you and me. Its pretty sweet these missionaries are very powerful! Not too obediant but they are great teachers. and i’ve learned a lot from them. Anyway love you Baba.

Mom,

Ya i’m so glad tasha is doing great. things are going good the work is really slow but we are working our butts off! anyway about your questions. I have not mailed a letter yet we haven’t really had time. we work all day and when we get home we just crash its hard work but its fun. And no i haven’t received any letters yet but its all good. our area is mostly city and large town areas tracting in our area doesn’t really work so we just find near members homes. My companion is awesome me and him are probably the most obediant missionaries in the mission. but we still have fun. the accents are pretty sweet but the older indians have super thick accents and they speak really fast so you can’t really understand them. who knew you need the gift of tongues to understand english. 🙂 ya i do stand out a lot people just stare at me sometimes its kinda creepy. we have some investigators that are doing really well they are progressing. we have had some powerful lessons. we have had some really disgusting curry dishes man they are aweful but we eat them anyway but there is this really good stuff its kinda like mashed potatoes but its called pop its pretty good. anyway things are going great i’m learning Zulu and Sign language too anyway better go love ya

Mama, things are going good here the work here is really really slow but the people are learning slowly and steadily. my area has very rich and very poor. my companion said that it has the most white people which is funny cause there are very few whites. We talk to a lot of muslims, and Hindus. key word being talk because we are not supposed to teach them. Good job on quiting pop!!!!!! thats great! ya playing soccer is super fun and no we don’t use shin guards but the way they play down here is differant. Not that the rules are differant but they don’t kick very hard at all so you don’t have to worry. ya the food here is good one of the elders in our zone got some american candy from home and it was so good!!!! I’m starting to like curry its pretty yummy stuff if its made right. anyway i’m finnishing up the book of 2 Nephi its super confusing. anyway we don’t have any baptisms yet but they will come anyway gotta go. Love, Elder Flexy

Dear Mom,

… Anyway our area is booming with new investigators! last week we found 3 new investigators but this week we got 15 crazy huh! ya the people listen but they usually just don’t want to change so the work is slow but good. also I’m learning some Zulu its a pretty cool and hard some of the noises they make are really hard to learn. My companion is from Pretoria which is in south africa we are getting along well and the work is going well. ya our area is just north of durban along the beach which stinks cause we can’t swim but oh well its a beautiful place. our appartment is really good and small. All i’ve really eaten since i got here is lunch meat sandwiches and pasta with Parmesan cheese. haha ya we have p-day till six o clock then we do work for the rest of the day. ya things are going good the weather here is nice. People keep saying its biting cold and i just laugh cause its not even close to cold. Anyway I’m doing great…

MAMA (Zulu for mother)
ya its great to know that things are going well! this place is so cool!!!!!! i love it here i’m learnig so much cultural stuff its crazy i’m gonna try to learn Zulu before i come home anyway. so the teaching here is really slow teaching muslums and Hindus is really hard and we taught this man named Frank and he just fights everything we say its actually kinda funny. so the work is going well no baptisms yet but they will come. This place is so differant when you can go to the store and not know what cold cereal to buy its a strange place. We ate Indian food the other day its FREAKIN spicy!!!! but its was good and its part of there culture to eat with there hands so that was kinda gross but it was good fun. oh ya the other day we went to this little Zulu families house and their daughter Gugu was sitting by me so i started showing her my pictures and i showed her the Provo Temple and she kissed the camera! that just goes to show that even little children in Africa know what is sacred. anyway I’m doing great better go love you.

Dear missionary Family,
This is just a short note to let you know that we have received Elder — and he is awesome. He is tired from the long journey, but ready to enter his field of labor and we know he will change lives while here.  His trainer is Elder Martin, a South African and they are serving in the Durban North area
Stay well
President Von Stetten
Elder Flexy is there!
He looks great. Although he does look a little tired to me. I feel so thankful that he has arrived safe and is ready to go to work.
The church is true!!

Elder Flexy
left today for
South Africa!
He called me from the airport. He was so excited to be going. I asked him if he was nervous and he said, “No, just ready to go and work”. I’m so glad he is ready. As parents, we have always encouraged, sometimes pushed, our kids to do things in their life. Things that we thought would be a good thing, a blessing and even a challenge. An experience that would help them be a better human, to learn and grow. It feels great to know he is wanting to go, and is even excited to do something in his life that will bless others and himself. He is a great son. All of our children are a blessing to us. It will take him about 22 hours to get to his mission. Wow! I put the Durban clock on the blog so we can all see what time it is for Elder Flexy! We will be praying for him, I hope you will too! Love, Joy

“Hello! So this is the coolest thing ever. The spirit here is so strong. I honestly think the prophets spirits walk these grounds. This place is a miracle. Me and my companion Elder Fisher are getting to be such great teachers, it’s awesome. The other elders in our building are really fun. There are five elders going to Durban and seven going to Johannesburg it’s gonna be sweet. I’m so excited! We leave in 7 days!! The sisters in our district are going to temple square, so you could go see them maybe. The food is so yummee here and you can eat all you want. I think I’ve gained some weight, but I’m not sure. Love, Elder(Flexy)”
What a great dude! He is so happy and content with life. I’m glad he is doing so good. He leaves for South Africa in a week!  I may need some consoling that day. JK. I’ll be just fine!

Well, we finally got a letter from our Elder!! I was really needing to hear from him! But I’m all better now. He has been gone for a week and a half. His letter wasn’t very long, but he gave us the basic’s.

He say’s:
“The spirit is so strong! The first day was way long, but I’m learning to like it. We have an elder in our resident hall that is 7 feet tall!!! Crazy huh? I’m learning how to preach God’s word and it is amazing. My third day out, one of the teachers picked me and had me do a forty-five minute lesson with an elder. I didn’t know it was intense, but we did great!! My companion is Elder Fisher. He is a bawler (Flexy says this alot, I think this means he’s a really great guy), he always has the spirit and teaches well. My scriptures look like a rainbow, they’re getting marked up so well. Our sisters are angels. They are definately our superiors. Anyway, better get studying! Love, Elder (Flexy)”
What a great letter! I can tell he’s loving it and being busy is awesome. What a blessing to have our son serving.
