Sunday Best!

St. George Temple
Our spiritual journey is the process of a lifetime. We do not know everything in the beginning or even along the way. Our conversion comes step-by-step, line upon line. We then remain steady and patient as we progress through mortality. At times, the Lords answer will be, You don’t know everything, but you know enough—enough to keep the commandments and to do what is right.

There is no one perfect way to be a good mother. Each situation is unique. Each mother has different challenges, different skills and abilities, and certainly different children…what matters is that a mother loves her children deeply…-M. Russell Ballard

“To the duty designated by His Father, [the Savior] turned His face, pledged His heart, and gave His life. And what a sinless, selfless, noble, and divine life it was. Jesus labored. Jesus loved. Jesus served. Jesus testified. What finer example could we strive to emulate?

Let us begin now, this very night, to do so. Cast off forever will be the old self and with it defeat, despair, doubt, and disbelief. To a newness of life we come—a life of faith, hope, courage, and joy. No task looms too large; no responsibility weighs too heavily; no duty is a burden. All things become possible.” -Thomas S. Monson

“We must be vigilant in a world which has moved so far from that which is spiritual. It is essential that we reject anything that does not conform to our standards, refusing in the process to surrender that which we desire most: eternal life in the kingdom of God. The storms will still beat at our doors from time to time, for they are an inescapable part of our existence in mortality. We, however, will be far better equipped to deal with them, to learn from them, and to overcome them if we have the gospel at our core and the love of the Savior in our hearts.”

-Thomas S. Monson

“I plead with you, my brothers and sisters, that if you have any doubt concerning any doctrine of this Church, that you put it to the test. Try it. Live the principle. Get on your knees and pray about it, and God will bless you with a knowledge of the truth of this work”

-Gordon B. Hinckley

“The attributes by which we shall be judged one day are all spiritual. These include love, virtue, integrity, compassion, and service to others. Your spirit, coupled with and housed in your body, is able to develop and manifest these attributes in ways that are vital to your eternal progression. Spiritual progress is attained through the steps of faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, including the endowment and sealing ordinances of the holy temple.”

—Elder Russell M. Nelson

“The pursuit of purity then, is the most important pursuit of our life. Becoming clean or pure is a daunting task, but God never asks us to do anything save He provides a way that we might accomplish it. His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ is The Way. Only through Him can we achieve perfect purity. He is the only person to pass through this life and remain perfectly pure, so He knows how! He is the essence of purity. He has been through the refining fires required for perfect purity. He knows that the effort is worth it because He has received a fullness of joy and a completeness of the power of purity. He can and will help us achieve these same blessings! He lives! He loves us! He will always guide and help us in our personal pursuit of purity.

“How do we become more pure? We follow the Savior more closely. We trust and obey Him more fully. We start wherever we are and become a little more obedient. This obedience brings a little more purity into our lives, which gives us a little more power to become a little more obedient. The more obedient we are the more pure we become. The more pure we become, the more power from heaven we receive, and on and on. Alma rejoiced in this wonderful eternal round by saying: ‘it beginneth to enlarge my soul . . . enlighten my understanding . . . [and] be delicious to me.’ [Alma 32:28] I testify that the pursuit of purity is delicious!”

-Elder John H. Groberg

“See that you learn the desires of the Master toward you, and, knowing those desires, see to it that you keep his laws and commands.  See to it that the purity of your lives shall entitle you to the companionship of the Holy Spirit . . . This life is not given to us as a past time.  There was a solemn purpose in our creation, in the life that God has given to us.  Let us study what that purpose is, that we may progress and obtain eternal life”
-George Albert Smith

Sunday Best!

Challenges, difficulties, questions, doubts—these are part of our mortality. But we are not alone. As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have enormous spiritual reservoirs of light and truth available to us. Fear and faith cannot coexist in our hearts at the same time. In our days of difficulty, we choose the road of faith. Jesus said, “Be not afraid, only believe” (Mark 5:36).
