Dear Family,

I’m glad things are going well for all of you. Life is good here! The work is moving along, and I am enjoying the ride. We had a lot of trials at the beginning of this week, but everything is good. Satan was trying to work really hard on us though.

Tuesday we had specialized training for sisters and couples. It was really awesome. We got to see all the sisters in the mission. I talked to Sister S. about T., and what is going on there. It was way cool.

Conference was truly awesome!! We had some investigators that came for parts of it. We told them the last couple of times that we have seen them that if they go to conference with a question in mind, they will receive an answer. We asked them after if they had, and they said yes! Man, it is so awesome. Anyway, we missed part of conference though, because we had two baptisms yesterday(!), and we were getting ready for them during the first session of conference on Sunday. I am a little sad, but I’m glad we got those baptisms done. I will just have to read the talks when they are printed later on. But the parts that I watched were really great. I definitely learned some new things, and some things that will help our investigators. I am also so excited about the temple in South Africa! So excited in fact, that I didn’t really hear where the other temples are supposed to be built. Whoops! 🙂

Anyway, Mom, I did get my contacts on Thursday. Thank you so much for sending them for me. I truly appreciate all you do for me! 🙂

That’s cool that Riley is dating someone. I’ll try to write her a letter today. I’ll just send it to the house, and then you can get it to her or whatever. Tell him he needs to write me a letter sometime, or at least put a little something in my email. 🙂

Oh the temple! I miss it so much. I wish I could go every week again. I was sad when I heard about what happened with the Provo Temple. I went to that temple like 8 times when I was in the MTC. It has a very special place in my heart.

Dad: I’m sorry about your shoulder. Ouch! Hopefully it’s gets better pretty fast. But I’m sure you’ll be as good as new very soon. 🙂 I will pray for you to pass your test. Remember, as long as you have studied hard and done your part the Lord will bless you. 🙂

Emerny!: Look at you! You’re a missionary already! 🙂 🙂 Ha ha. That is way cool though. One thing to remember, when you are talking to someone about the church is to not get defensive when they question your beliefs. It’s really hard sometimes, but if it turns into a fight, the Spirit won’t be able to be there to be the teacher. 🙂 But yeah, that is so awesome. Hopefully things are going well for you. Remember to, “Just keep swimming swimming swimming.”

I gotta go now. I love you all so much!

Love, Kelsey

P.S. I haven’t heard from Alex in a really long time. What is going on with that kid?!

Mommy:

Hi, how are you doing? I’m doing pretty good. I haven’t gotten my contacts yet, but hopefully soon. Thank you so much for getting them for me! 🙂 🙂 I’m also glad you are enjoying your daycare. I’ve been thinking a lot about T. and G., and how fun it was to watch them. They are so stinkin cute. I still remember that time when I took that picture of G. with his shirt all messed up from his nap, and I told him to smile, and he said (with a really grumpy face and voice), “I am smiling.” 🙂 He is such a funny kid. I wonder if G. will still cuddle with me when I get home. Probably not. But it’s okay. There will be other kids to cuddle with in time. 🙂

So we are now getting to the end of another transfer (we will be getting our transfer calls two weeks from today). And this next transfer will be Sister Q’s last before she goes home. I think that I am going to be her last comp before she goes home. So I am now getting trunky…again. It’s really hard when you know that your companion gets to go home very soon, and do all the things that you don’t get to do, and to see their family, and all that fun stuff. But I’m just gonna push through. 🙂

I didn’t get to go to the Women’s conference. They had it at the stake center, but no one told us until like the day of (because they wanted to see if we would translate for the spanish women), and we already had appointments for that night that we couldn’t cancel. I wish we could have gone though.

Here are some fun/memorable things that happened this week:

On Tuesday, we were visiting our recent convert, L. We were talking with her and her aunt, and her aunt, who really used to not like us, but now loves us, was asking about how much time we have left on the mission. I told them I’m done with the mission next September, and she goes, “Pues llega en Septiembre? Vamos a visitarla como en Navidad para su boda.” Which means, “Well you arrive in September? We will go visit like at Christmas for your wedding.” Ha ha ha! She’s a funny lady. 🙂

We had two birthdays this week, one for a less active member Hno T., and one for L. We took cake for the hermano’s birthday, and we put like 50 balloons in L.’s room for her birthday. She is so awesome! 🙂 I’ll have to send you a picture of us sometime, but at the moment I don’t have one to give you.

Also, i forgot, we went to another birthday party (lots of birthdays!!) for the daughter of one of our solid investigators, S.. Her daughter was turning 5. It was a pretty fun party. They had a pinana, and a HUGE tres leches cake (it is cake that is made with 3xs the amount of milk it needs or something. It is really weird because it feels like soggy when you eat it, but you get used to it. It is really yummy). And also really cool spanish music. I don’t know why, but the other day when we were visiting a member, we were listening to some spanish music, and it made me get all nostalgic. I’m not really sure why, but it reminded me of home for some reason, and made me a little bit sad for a minute. But then I was okay. 🙂

Oh also, Mom, in one of the notes you sent me, you were asking about the temple. So we do get to go to the Dallas Temple, but only on like the last day we are on the mission, just before we go home (because it is not in our mission), or if we have a convert that got baptized a year before and is going through the temple for the first time, then we can go with them. But other than that no. I really miss going.

Daddy:

Man, people would ruin our awesome view of the sunset! 🙁 Jk Jk. It’s fine. I’m glad things are going well.

Emmysaurus Rex:

Little Seester!!! Did you get my letter? I hope so. I think I wrote it like 2 or 3 weeks ago. Hopefully you’ll be writing back to it soon. 😀 Anyway, did you already have Homecoming? They had Homecoming here this last weekend. But here at some of the schools they don’t get dances, because some kids were doing really naughty things on the dancefloor, so they banned they dances altogether. But anyways, did you go to yours? With someone I know? 🙂 Anyway, other than that I hope things are going well. 🙂 Have fun and do good things.

I gotta go now. I love you all very much, and sometimes I miss you but I try not to. 🙂

Tell Natasha I love her. :):):)

Adios!!

Dear family,
How are things going? I hope all is well. Things are pretty good here.
This week was pretty uneventful. Well, except that we had a ward party on Friday, and we (the missionaries) “sang” in it. We actually didn’t sing, a member did, but we played air mariachi, and one of the elders, Elder D, pretended to sing. It was pretty fun. It was called Noche de Hispanidad (Night of Hispanic Culture). People from the ward brought different food from the places they are from (Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Columbia, etc.) We didn’t get to eat any of the food, because we got there late.
The elders had a baptism finally. They actually had two! 🙂 We were way excited for them, because a few of the elders haven’t baptized in a long time (like 9 months). Crazy!
Anyway, also, Sister Q is originally from Mexico City.
Love y’all lots!! 🙂

Dearest familia,
Hola! Como estan? I hope everything is still good. Did you all have a great week. I hope so. 🙂
Mom: I got your package Saturday. Thank you so much! 🙂 🙂
I am glad that you have decided that losing your job was a good thing. Sometimes it’s really hard to look at a bad/difficult situation, and see the good in it. But everything that God gives us is for our good and for our growth. I was reading the other day in an Ensign, and it was talking about what it meant to be damned. It doesn’t mean that you are going to “burn” or whatever. It just means that you aren’t progrssing. You are stuck. I’m glad that our Heavenly Father gives us opportunities to grow and learn so that we won’t be “damned”. I was like that before the mission, but now I see even more that I really did need a big change in my life.
That’s so cool that you went for a Sunday drive. That is one of my favorite things to do. I miss being able to just drive wherever I want. We have a limit on the amount of miles we can you use, as you may know, so I don’t just get to drive wherever I want, whenever I want. It’s kind of tough. But anyway, it’s kind of ironic you were remembering when I had perthes. Just the other day I was telling my companion about that whole thing, and about how hard it was. Some days I miss being little like that, but even then life was hard, just in a different way. There’s always something happening that helps you to learn and grow.
So this week was really long for me. There wasn’t really anything that happened in particular, except that our baptismal date with one of our investigators fell through. Her mom told her she shouldn’t get baptized because she swears. The mom does not get it at all. It’s very frustrating. And she’s a a member! We have been working with this family for a very long time, and we know that the dad, and the daughter that we had a baptismal date with, are so so so close, but Satan is working really really hard on them. He knows what will happen when they join the church, and he really doesn’t want it to happen. It is always a rollercoaster ride with this family. I remember when I came out on the mission, and in the back of my mind I was like, “Yay, now I get a break from drama and heartbreak.” Boy, was I wrong. I have had my heart broken more times by this family than I ever did in all my time before the mission, and I’ve had to deal with more drama, that isn’t even mine, than I ever did before. Dad, I definitely know what you mean about the drama. It is so not worth it, and I’m pretty sure that’s why I avoided it before. 🙁 The mission is so hard. But I still love it. I’m thankful everyday for the opportunity I have to share this wonderful gospel with other people. 🙂
Dad: That is awesome you hiked the mountain. I think I want to do that when I get home. I still have never done it in my life. But that’s really cool. How’s the weather there in Utah? Is it still warm or is is starting to cool off? It is getting a little cooler here. It reminds me of summer days in Utah. It makes me a little sad, but I still love it. It is way better than 100 degrees or more, plus humidity. 🙂
Emily: I am really going to write you a letter today, and you are really going to write me a real letter back…right?! 😉 That’s what I thought. 🙂 🙂 Anyway…”my one regret in life is that I will never be able to have a pet dog.” 😀
Anyway, I gotta go now. I love you all lots. Sorry that this letter is so depressing/sad, but I really am doing good. Just some hard stuff to deal with. 🙂
Con mucho amor,
Kelsey

Hola familia!!
Como estan ustedes?! (How are you all?) Espero que todo esta bien (I hope everything is good). Este semana era muy bien para mi (This week was really good for me.) Okay enough of the spanish. If y’all spoke spanish I would write an entire letter to you…but you don’t. 🙁 It’s okay though. I am doing pretty darn great. We had transfers again this past week and I stayed here in Arlington with Sister Q. I’m okay with that, because I still don’t feel like I know the area or the ward members very well. Hopefully I can get to know it better before she gets transferred or goes home. She finishes her mission in November, and she thinks that we will stay together until then, and that I will “kill” her. (That is when you send a missionary home…well when you are their last companion before they finish their mission) I sure hope not, because last time I did that with my trainer I got really trunky. But it’ll happen the way it is supposed to. (Oh ps. we were top companionship this week! Yeah!)
Anyway, we have so many great things going on in our area. We have 5 pretty legitimate baptismal dates. One family, the mom and the two sons have dates, and they have been taking the lessons for like 12 years. The mom is practically a member, except she hasn’t been baptized yet. I think the thing that is holding them back is the dad. He just doesn’t seem to get it. Anyway, so they have a date for the 25th of this month. The other two are for Carrie, who we have been teaching for a little while. And also for a lady named Shellie. They are both really cool. We have only been teaching Shellie for a couple weeks now, but she is just so ready. She loves everything we teach and how it has answered all of her questions. She studied with the JWs for a little while, but she really didn’t agree with a lot of the things that they taught. But so far she agrees with everything we have taught her. 🙂 And Carrie is this 14 year old girl we have been teaching for while. She had a date a little while ago, but they announced it in Young Womens at church, and she got all scared. But this time we got her. She is even starting to bring her friend to church. She’s not even a member, and she is already doing missionary work! Yeah!
Okay so this week we had a couple fun/crazy/memorable experiences.
First, on Friday, we had an…interesting experience. Mom…don’t be worried everything is fine. But it happened when we went to go see one of our investigators, Joe. So we pulled up to the house. Joshua, their “son in law” (the guy who is with their daughter Jana), pulled up to the house a few seconds after we did. Sister Q was on the phone talking to our exchange, but she told me to roll down the window, and ask Joshua if Joe was there. I rolled down the window to ask him, and all of the sudden this truck pulled up next to his car. A guy got out of the car got out and started yelling and swearing at him. Then he just started beating him up. Another guy got out immediately after, and they were both hitting him. Sister Q yelled at me to back out so we started backing out, and she called 911. There ended up being 7 guys in all, against the two son in laws. After that the rest of the family came out of the house. We circled back around, and the car was gone, and the police were there. They talked to everyone, and got statements and stuff. It ended up being okay, but we had to stay for a while to calm everyone down, and pray with them and stuff. So that was really fun. I got the biggest adrenaline rush ever! But yeah, so Mom don’t worry. I just wanted to tell you about our crazy experience. 🙂
We have had a little bit of drama with a less active member, because she was having troubles with her man, and then when she came to church on Sunday, she told us that the day before her “husband” tried to kill her by stabbing her. She had to call the cops on him, and they put him in jail.
So crazy times. But as they say…when it rains, it pours.
Anyway…
Mom: I’m so glad you are getting kids to watch. The Lord is definitely blessing you. 🙂 Just remember to keep doing everything you can to let him bless you. :):)
Dad: We had some peaches the other day from a member, and they were so good. I don’t even like peaches, but they were super sweet and juicy. And really big.
Emmysaurus: How did you have ANOTHER car crash?!?!? You crazy girl. I think you just need to be a little more observant with you drive. Or at least not tail people. 🙂 That’s cool though. Who is that Tanner guy that you wrote to? I don’t even know who that is. By the way, you should write to me before you write to Colter. I think I’m a little more important. 🙂 Jk jk.
Anyway, I better go now. I love you all! Les quiero mucho!!!
Love, Kelsey

Mi Familia!
This week was pretty good. We got transfer calls this morning, and I’m staying in Arlington with Sister Q. It’s a little weird, because so far I haven’t stayed with any of my companions for more than 1 transfer, so this will be a little different. But it’s cool. We get along really well, and we have a lot of good things happening in Arlington. 🙂
So Monday, we were playing ultimate ball. It’s just like ultimate football, except we were playing with a mini soccer ball, and we had to throw it into the basketball hoop to score. Anyway, so we were playing, and Sister Q and I went for the ball at the same time. She jumped in the air and when she came down, her elbow smashed down onto my upper chest. She body slam elbowed me! Ha ha ha! It knocked the wind out of me, but when I got it back I just started laughing. It was pretty crazy. She felt so bad, but it was okay. I didn’t really get hurt. I just got a tiny bruise. 🙂 Also, the couple we live with (we call them our step parents) wrote a note when we got home telling us it was our turn to vacuum the stairs. So we start vacuuming and something happened with the vacuum. We pulled it apart (just a little), and then looked at the little spool thing that grabs the dirt and stuff. It was covered with hair!!! Like covered. So we spent like 15 minutes cleaning that out. It was pretty gross.
Tuesday: We have a very motivational zone huddle (when all of the missionaries in our zone get together). It was really good. Also, We got a referral from one of our less active members, and she is really cool. We have realized that working with the members is the most important thing, and the success rate of people that are referral from members, and people that we knock into on the streets, are way better. Most of our baptisms aren’t from tracting. They are from refferals from members. So if you know someone that needs to hear the gospel, tell the missionaries. 🙂
Wednesday: We met 2 part member families. Both of them the mom is the member, and the dad and the kids aren’t. We are hoping that we can baptize all the rest of the family and get the moms active again. Most of the time, the only reason they aren’t active, is because they don’t have a way to get to church, of they feel uncomfortable coming by themselves.
Thursday: Nothing really happened. We spent most of the day planning, and then we helped one of our investigators move some furniture.
Friday: We had a district lunch, because one of the elders in our district was leaving right after. He is finished with his mission, but he got to go home early because he started school today. We also met the sister/daughter of one our families that are investigating the church. We have been working really hard with them. The mom is a member, but she got baptized when she was like 19 and became less active/in active right after, but she is coming back now. She is “married” (they aren’t really married) to a guy named “Joe” (his name isn’t actually Joe). They have 3 daughters. Jana is the oldest. She is 19, and has an almost 2 year old son named Troy. She isn’t married, but is with a guy named Joshua. Neither of them will keep commitments, but I know that Jana has a lot of ?s about the church, and life in general. The second daughter, Zoe, is 17, and she has a four month old son. She got baptized right before she had her baby, and hasn’t been to church since. She is the one we met today. And their youngest daughter, Carrie, is 14, and is just barely in high school. She is really cool. She really wants to learn and to have a good relationship with God, she’s just not really sure how to do it. She also is really confused right now. But we a really working with her. We want that whole family to get baptized and to get sealed in the temple. 🙂
Saturday: I was really stuggling. I couldn’t really pinpoint exactly what it was, but I was just having a hard time. In the morning we were doing language study, which Sister Q doesn’t have to do, so sometimes she helps me. But anyway, she gave me this thing called a tuna. It is a cactus that you skin and eat like a fruit. It has like a million little seeds in it. They are really hard and you can’t chew them, but you chew around them and then swallow everything. It was actually pretty good. Well, the flavor was good. I’m still not sure how I felt about the seeds. But I’ll have to find some when I get home and have you try some. But that made my day better. Then later in the day we had a really good family home evening with another part member family. The dad is really interested in taking the discussions, so we are excited about that. 🙂
Mom:
I know, it’s crazy I’ve been gone for 6 months. It does not feel like that long!
Ha ha, wow! Brynne is already engaged?! That was really fast. I think I know of the guy. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, he is the older brother to Liz, who I went to school with. Anyway, that’s way cool. Tell her congratulations for me. 🙂
I’m glad you are still walking. I have been really bad about exercising, and I can definitely see that I’m getting a lot softer. I’m not gaining any weight (I actually lost a little bit of weight), but I can definitely see that Turbo Jam was helping me before.
Tell Megan and Lisa happy birthday for me! 🙂 Or I’ll just send them a card late. I’m sad that I have missed so many birthdays so far. 🙁
Dad:
Hopefully you have a good garden before I come home because guess what? I decided that I like tomatoes now. It took me while, but the members fed us them so much that I decided that I had to like them. And now I do. 🙂 Ha ha. You probably thought I would never say that huh? 🙂 Anyway, I’m glad things are good for you. I’m almost out of time, so I better go now.
Emmysaurus:
I am just going to have to write you a letter. Sorry, but I don’t have anymore time. 🙁
Anyway, I love you all!! Keep doing good things. I know that the Lord blesses us when we do what we are supposed to. 🙂
con amor,
Kelsey

Dearest familia!
This week has been another really good week, that ended with some hard things. I guess I’ll start from the beginning.
Monday: We ate cena (dinner) with a member family, and I jumped on the tramp, and did some flips…in my skirt! 🙂 Ha ha ha!! It was okay though, because it was a tight one, and nobody saw anything. But it was super fun. I haven’t gotten to do that in a while. After that we had a noche de hogar (family home evening) with some investigators we are teaching. It turned out really well, and their kids and the dad are actually getting involved now. We were just teaching the mom and the daughter before. The mom is older, and is actually a grandma to her two daughters kids. But anyway, we are really excited about that.
Tuesday: Nothing really happened…but the son of the family we taught yesterday, and today, was being really, really funny. His name is Leo (his mom says it like lay-o), and when you say it like that it actually means, “I read” in spanish. I thought that was pretty funny.
Wednesday: We taught our really cool investigator Joe. He told us this last Sunday, that he didn’t want to get baptized anymore, but I think he is just overwhelmed with everything, and isn’t really sure what to do right now. We are still going to keep working with him.
Thursday: Today was planning day, but we skipped out on part of planning to teach our baptismal date for this Saturday. She is so cool. Her name is Lesa, and she is almost 14. Her family is actually part members. It’s kind of an involved story, but her mom died a little while ago, and now her dad is married to her aunt. Her aunt is a member, and so is her younger cousin Aidan. Her dad doesn’t really want anything to do with the church. We went to see him to get his permission though, and he said he was okay with Lesa getting baptized. 🙂 We were really excited about that. 🙂 🙂 But she is really cool.
Friday: We had zone conference. It was really really good. President Sagers is just so full of knowledge. And sometimes he goes off on crazy tangents and tells us random weird stories. He’s a very funny guy. Once you get past the whole intimidation part. 🙂 Then later in the day, we went to the E’s house to help them move some furniture, so they can get their floor worked on. It was really really hot because their A/C just went out earlier in the day. But I was excited because we got to wear pants for a little while! 🙂 Also…they fed us! In case you are wondering why that is so exciting, it is because that is a sign of conversion! Yeah!! 😀
Saturday: Today was a crazy crazy day. The day started out like usual. We visited some people, and then because we were running low on miles, we decided to take out on of our ward missionaries. Her name is Mercy, and she is older (like 50’s). She actually comes out with us a lot. So anyway, we were with her for like an hour or so, and no one let us in to let us teach them. We were walking around outside a lot, and it was really hot. Hermana Mercy has a tendacy of walking away from us, so when we were contacting this people, and she kept walking, we didn’t really think too much of it. Then we saw out of the corner of our eyes that she had sat down in the middle of the sidewalk. Sister Q ended the contact really quick so we could go check on her. We asked how she was doing, and she was telling us about how hot she was, and that she needed water. The lady we had just been talking to went into the apartment, and got a glass of water. Hermana Mercy started drinking some of it, and we poured some on her neck to cool her off. We called this couple that she lives with to have them see if they could come get us. All of the sudden, Hermana Mercy passes out. The lady that was helping us held her head up so she wouldn’t get hurt. Then she started throwing up. We didn’t even know what to do. Sister Q was on the phone with the couple at this point, but she hung up real fast, and called 911. We were trying really hard not to panic. We thought our exchange was dying in front of us!! Anyway, long story short the ambulance came, and she ended up going to the hospital. It was crazy. She ended up calling us later in the night to see if we were still having our baptism, because she wanted to come. That chick is nuts!!
After that, we went to the church to set up for our baptism. We had a really great baptism. Lesa is such a good girl, and she is going to do great things. 🙂 I think she is going to serve a mission someday. 😉
Sunday: We had a really good day at church. We had a couple that we have only taught once come to church, which is a really good thing. If you can get investigators to come to church, it is a really big step. But then, later in the evening we got dropped by one of my favorite investigators. Her name is Carrie. She is 14. Her mom and sister are members, but not her, her dad or her other sister. She is so awesome! I just love that girl. But she told her mom last night that she doesn’t want to see us anymore:( I was so sad last night. We have lost investigators before, but I really had hope that Carrie was going to go somewhere, and now she won’t. It was a sad time.
So that was our week.
Mom: Wow that’s awesome you are getting some kids to watch. 🙂 I’m glad things are working for you! 🙂 Just remember to always pay your tithing first, before anything else. That is one thing I have really strong testimony about. The Lord can’t pour out his blessings upon you unless you show your faith by paying your tithing, and making that small sacrifice. 🙂
Ha ha. You kind of are getting old. 😉 Jk jk.
(I had just told Kelsey that I’m turning 50 this year!)
Emmysaurus: Wowee Wow Wow! You’re getting so big. Guess what? I’m going to miss your high school graduation…and so is Alex. 🙁 Man, that’s crazy. I’m glad you got some cute new clothes though. Is Rach in high school?! Wow, man! Everyone is growing up too fast. Well, I gotta go now. Peace and blessings!
Well, I’m out of time. Love you all. Keep doing good things!
Love, Hermana Kelsey

This week has been a little trying. A lot of ups and downs.
We went to the Cowboys Stadium on Monday to see a game. Ha ha ha! No no, I’m just kidding. We just had a tour of the stadium. It was pretty cool. That place is huge! And very expensive. Someday, I want to go there for a real life game of some kind. Hopefully a football and a soccer game. 🙂 But that was pretty fun. Then when p-day was over, we were supposed to have a noche de hogar (family home evening) with a family we are teaching, and they cancelled on us. We were very disappointed.
Tuesday we were feeling kind of down. We went to our district meeting in the morning, and then went to lunch after. We listened to some tender mercies of the Lord (which is what we call “wordly” music that we get to listen to in food places). That made the day a little better. We ended up going to see the family that cancelled on us the night before, and they weren’t even the ones that cancelled. It was our member that was supposed to be there! That made us feel better. It ended up being a good day with some really cool lessons.
Wednesday in the morning, I had just got done showering, and Sister Q was about to get in the shower. A member of the family, we live with came upstairs panicking, and told us we needed to wait on the showers. Apparently, the water was backing up downstairs. He thought it had something to do with us, so he was all put out and kind of mad. We didn’t do anything though! So they had to shut the water off for the rest of the day, until in the evening when they found out that the water was blocked way down the street, and it had nothing to do with us. The rest of the day we spent driving around getting estimates for the body work we need for our car. It was a little frustrating because we could have been using that time to teach people. 🙁 Also, to answer your question about the temperature here, today was the 40th day with heat over 100 degrees. It’s really hot!!! We try to stay outside for very long if we can help it. It was apparently setting a record for the longest amount of time it has been as hot as it has been. Crazy!
Thursday we didn’t really have anything happen. Although we watched the news for a minute (in spanish, of course, so it was what is happening in Mexico), but it was really depressing. I don’t think I’m going to watch the news anymore, even when I go home.
Friday we spent the day trying to follow up on former investigators in Ft. Worth. We cover a really small area on the edge of Ft. Worth, so we decided to go there. It was pretty unsuccessful. Almost everyone wasn’t home, or had moved. Days like that are really hard, because it feelsl ike you aren’t getting anything done.
Saturday it rained finally!! We spent our exercise time in the morning listening to the soundtrack for the Lord of the Rings 3, and meditating. 🙂 It was nice. We had a lot of appointments that punched (cancelled) on us. Kind of a trying day.
Sunday we had a noche de hogar with another family we are teaching. The hermano (“brother” who is the dad of the family) has a baptismal date for the 27th of this month. We wanted the Lamb of God which is really great movie about the Atonement. The lesson was going really well, and all of the sudden out of nowhere, he tells us he doesn’t want to get baptized anymore! We don’t know why, but he was so ready and really cool with it before. So then we were sad. Hermana Q said that when she heard him say it, she felt like she got shot with a shotgun. I felt like he ripped my heart out, and stomped on it. But we’ll keep working with him. We know that everything happens the way it is supposed to, and that the Lord is in charge. 🙂
So that was our week.
Mom, That’s cool you got a letter from President S. He is so cool. He was pretty much made to be a branch president. 🙂
I’m glad you got a little girl to watch. There’ll definitely be more coming soon.Dad, ha ha ha. Sorry about mom getting rid of everything, and changing things. Sometimes it has to happen though. 🙂 It’s good for you. 🙂

Emmysaurus, I’m sorry you’ve been having hard times lately. But remember…”don’t worry (doo doo doo doo doo doo) about a thing (doo doo doo doo doo doo) ’cause every little thing is gonna be alright. Woke up this morning, looked at the rising sun. Three little birds, outside my window. Singing sweet songs, of melodies pure and true singing, ‘This is my message to you-o-o. Baby don’t worry…’ ” 🙂 Man, don’t you love Bob Marley!!! 🙂
But anyway, I gotta go now. Love y’all lots!! Be good! 🙂

Dear darling missionaries,

I hope you had a great week. We had an incident last Monday. Our darling Emily got in a car accident. She is ok and the guy she hit is ok, but Carl (Sandy) is totaled. They thought it was going to be not a total, but they pulled things apart and found more damage. Em, is so sad. And has been not wanting to drive as much. She missed a stop sign that was partially covered by a tree, and t-boned another car. Damage was done to her right front corner of the car and the other car was damaged by the left front fender and the wheel was bent in at the top. It could have been so much worse. I am thankful it happened the way it did. So Emily got her license the Tuesday before and by Monday of the next week she had her first accident. People have been telling her that now she won’t have one, because she got it out of the way. Write something to her on this email. She is at work and won’t be able to write, because we are going up to Park City tonight.
Mi Familia!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

and Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!
Awww no! Sandy!! I’m glad Em is okay though. That’s really sad to hear. 🙁
We also had car troubles this week. But more on that later.
So last Monday…we accidentally did a bad thing. So it was p-day of course, and we needed to go to Wal-mart to shop. So Sister Q searched in her GPS for the closest Wal-mart, and we went to it. And then guess who I see there?! Hermana J, who was in my zone at the MTC. And guess what? She is serving in the DALLAS MISSION!! Yeah, that’s right! We not only accidentally left our area, we accidentally left our mission!! It was crazy. I felt to so so guilty, but we have since repented and it’s all good now. 🙂
Awww Tashie!! She is so stinkin adorable. I love those pictures you sent of her, because they are so Natasha. The one with her not even looking at the camera, and the other one of her running like a tard. Oh man! I want to hug her little squishiness! I’m glad you are taking her to church though. We have so many people who are having trouble with being active in the church, and I know how hard it is to see that, and to deal with it. It can be really frustrating. Just continue to do all you can. It will make a difference in the future for her. 🙂
Man, I am so looking forward to watching the new Harry Potter movie. Although I’m kind of sad that it is officially over now. 🙁 It’s been such a big part of my life for so long. Ha ha. Just kidding. But yeah, we should definitely do that.
Mom, good job for walking! I’m so proud of you. Just keep it up. 🙂
Okay, so about our car troubles. So the other day we got in the car, and the check tire pressure alert was on. So we checked the tires. The drivers side back tire was low. So we filled it up. The next morning it was low again. So we decided to talk to the guy in charge of the cars for the mission to see what we could do about it. He told us we could go to Pep Boys. Apparently, the church has some sort of contract with Pep Boys so they are supposed to do all of our car work. So we go there, and we tell them we need our tire checked. It takes them an hour to check the tire, then another hour to tell us that they need to replace it. When they told us the total for the tire, we also asked them if they could change our wipe blades because they were falling apart. So it takes them another hour to finish changing the tire, and switch the wiper blades. Then the guy that was doing the work comes to bring us our car. As he is backing out of the stall thing, he backs our car into another customers car!! Yeah. Sister Q saw him do it, and called him out on it, because he was going to drive away and act like nothing happened. So then we had to wait another hour to figure out the paperwork, and get all their insurance information. Amount of time spent at the Pep Boys: 4 hours. 4 hours that we can never get back, and that we could have spend sharing the gospel with people who really need it. It was so frustrating. Grrr! That was on Saturday. And then yesterday, we were driving home in the night, and I went to clean off the windshield, because we got some random gunk on it. And guess what happened? I bet you’ll never guess. The windshield wiper that just got replaced flies off into the night, never to be seen again. I think it’s pretty obvious we are never going back to that Pep Boys again.
Dad, I’m glad you are doing fun things. And enjoying life.
Keep doing what you are doing. 🙂
That would really not be cool. Is he going to be okay?
Emerny! Sorry about your bad experience with the car. I’m sad that Sandy is gone now, but she had a good run. 🙂 I’m also glad that you are okay. Don’t let this make you afraid of driving though. We live and learn, right? Now you’ll just be a more cautious driver. At least for a little while. 🙂
Anyways, bye family. I have to go now. Love you all lots. Keep doing god things! 🙂

Mama,

This week has gone by so fast. I swear it was just p-day the other day! But things are going well. We have a few baptisms coming up soon, so I’m pretty excited for that. Hopefully I will be sending some pictures home soon. I’ve been really bad about taking pictures, but I’m trying to do better. We have seen quite a few miracles in the past week or so. God is definitely putting people where they need to be for us to find them. We have met so many legit people in the last couple days especially. It’s so amazing to get to bring this wonderful gospel to people, and see the change that it brings into their lives. I am surely starting to love Arlington. Temple will always have a special place in my heart, but I think I can make room for Arlington too. 🙂

That’s so cool you had some people that served in Spain come speak to you. Did they talk funny? They have a thing in their spanish there called the “theta” and they say certain things with like a lisp. They will say corazon “corathon” (like with a th instead of a z). I only know about that, because there were some elders in my district in the MTC called to Spain, and a teacher that served there told us about it. Pretty funny.

Anyway, I got my birthday package! Thank you thank you thank you so much for sending it! 🙂

Anyway, I’m so excited for you to start doing daycare. That will be so fun. I’m sure you’ll love it.

Well, I better go now. Love you lots. Thanks for all you do for me. I really appreciate it. 🙂

Love, Hermana Kelsey

Papi,

Man, I miss zucchini bread. The lady that we live with cooks a little bit, and she made cupcakes for my birthday, but I don’t think she would take requests, and I don’t have time to bake anything really. So I’ll just have to wait until I get home.

We played tennis once when I was down in Temple, because we had a tennis court at our apartment complex, and an elder had rackets for us to use. It was really fun. I still suck though. 🙂

Ha ha ha. Oh my special brother. Sometimes he just doesn’t think through things before he does them. 🙂 🙂

Well, I better go now. Love you lots. Have a great week. 🙂

Love, Hermana Kelsey

Emmysaurus Rex,

Hey seester! I’m still waiting for another letter back from you!!! That’s so crazy you are going to be a senior!! Wow!! I swear you were just a tiny little thing like yesterday. You kids grow up way too fast. 🙂 Ha ha.

I still can’t believe you renamed Sandy Carl. That doesn’t seemt to fit her at all. But whatever.

Anyway, I better go now. Love your face. Peace and Blessings!!!

love, Hermana Kelsey
